Wilkinson’s live-in girlfriend Shelley Jenkins, 27, the daughter of a scaffolding magnate, is apparently ‘really happy’ about Wilkinson’s new enlightenment.

‘I have improved as a person in my relationships, not just with her, but with friends and family,’ he said.

Asked to explain the deeper reason for his Buddhist faith, he added: ‘I think it was rooted in an even deeper fear of death.

‘I couldn’t figure out how to avoid death: it was like a game I could not win. The closer I got to family and friends and the better things got, the more I had to lose.

‘I have accepted my career will finish one day and I am in a place that will enable me to make that transition comfortably. I will not have to reinvent myself to cope with life after rugby.’

Although Wilkinson is about to publish his autobiography, it will not mention Buddhism and physics in case anyone ‘might have thought I was trying to be the new Stephen Hawking’.

Biography:

His match-winning kicks led England to victory in the 2003 Rugby World Cup and 'Wilko fever' took hold. The rugby ace, from dedicated schoolboy to international hero.

Jonny has had a love of rugby since the age of four. His father, Phil, played the game for 22 years, and both Jonny and his brother, Mark, were keen to follow in his footsteps.

Jonny grew up in the Hampshire county and was educated at Pierrepont, Frensham and Lord Wandsworth College, Hampshire, and he enjoyed playing cricket and tennis, as well as rugby for his schools.

Jonny impressed England rugby selectors, when he took part in the English 18s Schools tour of Australia in 1997, clocking up a spectacluar 94 points in only 5 games.

After college, Jonny decided to sign for Newcastle on a two-year contract, after turning down a place at Durham University. Rob Andrew saw his potential and allowed Jonny to play for the England first team, after only just under an hour with the senior rugby team. In his first game for England against Ireland, he broke the records, as Englands’ youngest player this century. He stood in for Mike Catt in England’s 79th minute of their game against Ireland, despite some of the protests against the decision, as a few fans believed he wouldn’t be any good because they hadn’t heard of him.

All this has not come without some serious dedication on Jonny’s part. He has been conscientious and hard working, often refusing to leave the training ground (even from a young age) until he got his kicks right.

Recently, Jonny has become a big name in the world of sports. In the closing minutes of the 2003 rugby world cup final, Jonny Wilkinson clinched victory for England against Australia with a nifty drop goal. Jonny has moved further up the fame ladder in 2003, winning BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

Jonny’s popularity continues unabated, despite recurring injuries during 2004, and he was bestowed with the ‘freedom of Newcastle’, an honour shared with Alan Shearer and late Newcastle United legend, Jackie Milburn.

For four years, 2004-2007, Roger Federer so dominated men's tennis on every surface but clay, many had already concluded that he was the greatest player tennis had ever seen. When he completed the career Grand Slam by winning Roland Garros (the French Open) in 2009, Federer erased almost all remaining doubt. Shortly thereafter, Roger added further confirmation by winning his sixth Wimbledon and thus breaking one of the biggest records in tennis with a fifteenth Grand Slam singles title. Without knowing any of Federer's many records, though, one could easily sense his greatness simply by seeing him play one match at his best. Roger's shotmaking is often described as "magical," "unbelievable," "ridiculous," and, as he finds quite amusing, "sick." It takes a lot to hate someone so much who is so damn good, but Hunter Hearst-Helmsley, better known simply as Triple H has accomplished just that. Despite being a highly celebrated 10-time world champion, there is no denying the pure diabolical evil that is Triple H. A strategic mastermind, Triple H is considered by the industry as a whole as the most resilient champion in the history of WWE, defending his championship against anyone, not always by choice, but seemingly coming out on top more often than not using his pedigree in-ring skills, wit and ingenious schemes, swerving all his adversaries with plots opponents simply don’t see coming.

Indeed, Triple H plays the game perhaps better than anyone else, hence his nickname “The Game” – which he shares with the hit Motorhead song specifically made for Triple H’s ring music. Utilizing a truly intimidating ring entrance to psyche out his adversaries, Triple H’s intensity, shredded muscular physique and reputation alone could strike fear into his opponents before the bell even rings! Of course, Triple H’s imposing in-ring presence differs drastically away from the ring, with “The Game” dressing in dashing custom made suits and a one of a kind Rolex watch around his wrist. There’s no denying that he is just as respected as he is dangerous. Unfortunately, he just happens to be a man full of hate, greed and desire to devour all in his path in regaining the World Heavyweight and WWE Championships.

As his skills as a leader of D-Genration X developed, so did his masterful moves to ensure his continued success, adding “Nature Boy” Ric Flair as an ally and associate. Around this point in time, RAW began to see an influx of new Superstars, leading to the always shrewd Triple H investing in his future by securing two of the hottest prospects on the scene: Batista and Randy Orton. As a four-man clique known as Evolution, the foursome dominated RAW, dined on championship gold, flew $20 million private jets and partied the nights away. This was the best of the best. The elite. They were Evolution.

Unfortunately, Triple H’s greed ultimately nearly consumed him. His need to be the man and ace of Evolution was challenged first by Randy Orton and most recently by Batista, leading to the group self-destructing and Orton and Batista breaking away into Superstars free of Triple H calling the shots for his own best interests instead of theirs.
